Hi I'm Kevin.
I am a fully qualified Government Approved Driving Instructor (ADI) and I am passionate about road safety.
I have lived in Feniton, a few miles from Honiton, since moving from London in 1988 so I have an extensive knowledge of all the roads in the East Devon area. I share the house with my wife and two cats. I was a secondary school teacher for nearly 30 years before deciding on a change of career that would fit in with our desire to visit family in Australia on a regular basis every 2 years at times of the year that do not cost an arm and a leg!
I take an interest in most sports, especially cricket and football and play golf to a less than moderate standard! I like most forms of music and have seen many of the 'older' bands live including Queen, Dire Straits, Bruce Springsteen and Billy Joel.
I trained locally with LDC and decided to stay on with the company as the training and support from them is probably the best you can receive anywhere in the country for both learners and instructors.
I appreciate that driving for the first few times can be nerve racking but my aim is to make it as much fun and stress free as possible. Safety is always my top priority mine, yours and everybody else.
I am a very patient instructor and have found that people learn more quickly when they are in relaxed atmosphere with clear rules. Not everybody learns in the same way, or needs the same level of support soI will modify my training technique to what is best suited to you. I will provide the necessary support make the training it sink in, in order to help you achieve your goal.
Learner drivers spend many hours with their instructor and I always encourage feedback so that I can continually improve and modify my teaching methods to suit the way you like to learn.
I can pick you up from home, work, school or wherever suits but we will always go to somewhere away from the traffic for the first few lessons. There will be no other pupils in the car during your lesson. If you have a car that you can practice in, the person who accompanies you can come out on a lesson if they like. This will help if there is a particular part that you need more practice on.
The car has dual controls fitted but they will only be used as a last resort if assistance is needed or if a dangerous situation arises.
I became a driving instructor because I wanted a job with real satisfaction and there is nothing better than seeing someone pass their test first time. I was also always being told by friends and work colleagues that I was a calm and relaxed type of person and that I would make a great Driving Instructor.
I was fortunate to be trained by LDC in the latest adult coaching and training techniques so you can be assured the training I give will be of the highest standard.
I chose to work with LDC because everybody is different and the LD system allows for flexibility in lessons so that you learn to drive safely at a rate that suits you. I aim to make every lesson enjoyable and as productive as possible. The LD system just helps me to do this more effectively.
Lessons are always conducted in a calm, friendly and relaxed manner as I firmly believe in making pupils feel at ease during lessons.
